Event Art in Focus Face It! An Introduction to Modern Portraits Keidra Daniels Navaroli , lecturer Portraits are unique visual statements. This lecture introduces pioneering examples of portraiture in modern movements, including Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Realism and Abstraction. Exploring paintings by artists such as Édouard Manet, Vincent van Gogh, John Singer Sargent, Frida Kahlo and Andy Warhol, audiences will be guided through complex and sometimes controversial representations of people and society. Visual art is fundamental to framing not only what we see but how we see it. Drawing from renowned collections and institutions, the Art in Focus lecture series explores a range of critical topics in art today, breaking down concepts, culture and cutting-edge innovations.
