Event Mahler Chamber Orchestra Visiting Orchestras Series Mahler Chamber Orchestra Yuja Wang , piano and director Matthew Truscott , concertmaster and leader Prokofiev — Symphony No. 1, "Classical" Tsfasman — Jazz Suite for Piano and Orchestra Chopin — Piano Concerto No. 1 Known for their boundary-pushing artistry and collaborative spirit, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra makes its Hayes Hall debut in a program that highlights the ensemble's flexibility and vibrant sound. Pianist Yuja Wang , recently named the orchestra's artistic partner, takes on the dual role of soloist and director, leading the ensemble from the keyboard. The evening begins with Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1, a witty homage to Haydn, followed by the Jazz Suite for Piano and Orchestra by Alexander Tsfasman. The program concludes with the poetic lyricism and dazzling virtuosity of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1. Music and Museum All Visiting Orchestras tickets include same-day admission to The Baker Museum . Special museum hours on day of the performance: Noon-7pm.
