Bennetts Turns 3 years old next week.

Our good friends over at Bennetts is having a celebration.

It’s been 3 years thanks to you!

Dear Friends:

Next week is our 3rd anniversary!  We can’t believe it’s been 3 years!  Our friends in the Fort Myers area have embraced Bennett’s Fresh Roast to a degree that we had only dreamed possible when we first opened our doors in February 2008.

We want to let you be the first to know about a very special celebration coming up on Friday night, February 11th.  Our special Bennett’s Fresh Roast Wine Tasting and Anniversary Celebration will take place from 6-9 p.m.  We’re pulling out the stops and sampling some very, very special wines, cheeses and appetizers.  Tickets are on sale at the shop for $20 each, advance sale only.  This is the one not to be missed.  But get your tickets early.  Supplies are limited.

We’re also debuting a new donut for our anniversary.  It’s called “The Elvis”.  It’s a decadent little thing that contains fresh banana, chocolate icing and peanuts.  Recent samplers have just smiled, moaned and sighed when asked how they like it.  It’ll be available after Monday February 7th.

Do you celebrate a birthday with us?  Just show us your ID and if your birthday is between 2/7 and 2/11, we’ll give you your donut for free.

And all day Friday 2/11, we’re featuring pure 100% Fresh Roasted Hawaiian Kona Extra Fancy coffee as our special-of-the-day.  This expensive and very rich coffee will be fresh-roasted Thursday for the special occasion.  And best of all, we’re rolling back the price of our in-house bottomless coffee to $2 Monday thru Friday, 2/7-2/11.  And yes, even the Kona will be $2 (in-house) on Friday.

Don’t forget that Bennett’s isn’t just about the freshest fresh-roasted coffee or our delicious “to-die-for” hand cut, from-scratch donuts.  Our lunches are getting kudos everyday!  With a different special hot panini everyday, a homemade soup, chicken and tuna salad selections, the Bennett’s Salad Bowl and our signature Cobb Salad, there’s something for everyone on the menu.  It’s served weekdays from 11-2.

We want you to know how grateful we are for your business and kind words.  Bennett’s couldn’t have become what it is today without you.  So whether you come to our big party or just drop by to say hi, we look forward seeing you during this very special week and telling you “Thank You” from the bottom of our hearts.

Premiering August 21, Music Walk is the new and exciting downtown Fort Myers event brought by the creators and promoters of the Fort Myers Art Walk. The event will follow the model of Art Walk, but with a focus on music and performing arts. More than 40 downtown Fort Myers’ venues will feature some sort of a musical/artistic performance the third Saturday of every month beginning in August.

The daas Gallery will be presenting an intimate and very different performance in conjunction with the Music Walk. “Since we are not a big and spacious venue, we are limiting the amount of people we can have in our space with the performer. This way, the show will be very exclusive and intimate”, explains co-owner Xavier Brignoni. “We will follow the same uniqueness that characterizes our gallery for these performances and I am sure people will enjoy them as much as our exhibitions.”

Opening this event will be the great Peter Taylor; a guitar virtuoso and accomplished musician who has collaborated with local and international artists. His performances will begin at 7:00 pm on Saturday August 21. His 45 minute set, titled “Single Minded”, is an ethereal and beautiful mix of emotional and heartfelt songs in voice and guitar that will captivate the audience.

The owners of daas Gallery invite Music Walk visitors to call 239-939-1194 and reserve a space, which is very limited. There will be no access inside the gallery once the performance has begun. For more information about Peter Taylor or daas Gallery, please call 239-939-1194. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Over 80 women attended the monthly meeting of the Women’s Wine Club last night hosted at the Bell Tower fine dining restaurant Cru.  Chef Harold Balink (formerly of H2 and Harold’s on the Bay) put on a show with a wonderful four course meal consisting of spicy crab, avocado and cucumber napoleon appetizer, spinach stuffed chicken with a tomato ciabatta salad, pepper grilled rib-eye with their own special sauce, and for dessert a white chocolate mousse with roasted banana sauce.  My guest and I had such a wonderful time even when the lights went out and we dined by candle light.   We got to see many of our friends including Heather Christie, Holly Leland, Connie Ramos,Tara Molloy, Gina Birch, Rachel Peacock, and her good friend as well as ours Sharon Torregrossa.  This was an evening filled with wine and laughter.  Thank you again to the Women’s Wine Club which meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month.  For more information about the next event sharontorregrossa@gmail.com.
