BBQ, Bands & Brew features the best in local BBQ cuisine, live music all day long from local bands and FUN for the whole family with a kids’ area and corn-hole games.  Eight local restaurants vie for the naming rights of Best BBQ in town judged by local VIPs.  This year’s event is sure to please with an amateur barbecue competition and  local vendors to add to the mix.  Join us for a full day of FUN to benefit a great cause!

BBQ, Bands & Brew takes place at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts on the corner of McGregor Blvd. and Colonial Blvd. from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 3rd, 2011.

The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center presents                  
“An Evening of Rhythm” with French African Cuisine
Monday,February 14,2011

 –  The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center is hosting “An Evening of Rhythm” with music by Aiyb Dieng    
 and his Rhythm Band.  It is the third in a series of “Illuminating an Era of Art Dinners” with Berne Davis. Join us on a trip to Senegal

  and enjoy a fabulous menu by chef and owner Rita Bhaduri-Sterk of Saute Catering.  Dr. Paul and Sally Joslyn are co-chairing  this  event.  

You will be greeted at 6 p.m. with a sparkilng Kir Royale and will sample Senegal Peanut Bisque with Curried Crème Fraiche and Moroccan Baby Lamb Chops with Minted Pomegranate Glaze, among other creations. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. with Grilled Prawn & Avocado Salade, followed by Yassa Chicken aux Ratatouille Farci with Shallot Lemon Sauce, Fluffy Cous Cous & Baby Vegetables.  The chef’s dessert finale is Roasted   Banana Caramel Crème Brulee with a Peanut Praline.

Experience an intimate evening of World Music with Aiyb Dieng and friends. Master World Percussionist Aiyb Dieng, born and raised in Senegal, West Africa, has worked and recorded frequently with Bill Laswell, founder of Material. He has also played with Herbie Hancock, Masabumi Kikuchi, Mick Jagger, Yoko Ono, Bob Marley, Pharoah Sanders, Ginger Baker, Bootsy Collins, Don Cherry, Karl Berger and many more. He has played at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York. His Valentine’s Day performance at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center will feature Sandra Moore (guitar and voice), Jamaica Dave Walker (keyboard), and Clint Anderson (bass); and his Rhythm Band, featuring Amain Claudia Myer (piano, organ B3 Hammond), Peter Apfelbaum (sax, flute) and Pheeroan Ak Laff (drums). You will hear Indian and Middle Eastern influences in the Rhythm Band’s cross-cultural jazz fusion- a rare and exciting musical experience.

A silent auction will open at 6 p.m. and conclude after dessert and coffee. Enjoy an intimate and unique evening of fine French African cuisine and innovative jazz music by world-renowned musicians. The Art Center is located in the River District, downtown Fort Myers, at  2301 First Street. Tickets are $175 per person

The Rotary of Fort Myers is helping ease this concern for $5.oo you can park in the Old Blvd Shopping Plaza across from First Watch.  I will be out there along with many of our Downtown Rotary Friends.

Tickets are still Available at the Fort Myers Toyota Store on Colonial Blvd. and at the Sidney and Bern Davis Art Center.

There were 300  available for the inside.   We are now selling tickets for the outside concert Simulcast on a bigscreen  for the cost of $10 a donation to the Pace Center for Girls and Rotary International cause of Stop Polio Now.

They will be selling tickets for the outside venue on the street that evening or you can pick them up at the above locations or at the Downtown Rotary Office.
